What’s Really Going On In Haiti?

People of goodwill everywhere are rightly sympathetic to the plight of hundreds of thousands of innocent Haitians in the aftermath of the terrible earthquake that rocked the island country. Private donations and volunteer efforts are pouring into Haiti from all over the globe--especially from the United States. This is a good thing, right? So, why am I troubled?

Partners With Haiti

One thousand-one, One thousand-two, one thousand-three… continue until you count out thirty seconds. In less than thirty seconds, Haiti was struck by the earthquake, followed by about ten aftershocks. This event is old news, but the grieving for lost ones and the day to day survival of at least a million homeless is still very fresh.
